We're excited to bring you our first Fall update to Halide. For iPhone 18 Pro users, we've added variable aperture control. While the default iPhone camera app lets you choose from four presets, Halide lets you select any f-number from ƒ/1.48 down to ƒ/4.0. Feeling like ƒ/2.1? Ok! You want ƒ/3.89? Go for it, freak.
Aperture control comes in two styles. First, we have Aperture Priority, the most convenient and approachable mode. Set your target f-number, and Halide picks the best shutter speed and ISO. Speaking of ISO…
While Apple's camera app now offers manual shutter speed and aperture control, for some reason it's missing ISO control. As I dove down the rabbit hole to find out why, I reached two thousand words and decided the iPhone 18 Pro deserves a much longer deep-dive. Stay tuned.
Today, Halide brings you even more control than Apple's camera by offering full manual controls. That includes ISO settings.
Today's update extends beyond the iPhone 18 Pro. We're also excited to launch two new looks.
Dawn features filmic warmth in mid-tones and highlights, paired with rich yet gentle shadows and subtle complementary cool colors. Honestly, this has turned into one of my favorite looks.

Next we have the exact opposite. Quicksilver's high contrast and muted color simulate a silver-retention alternative process. It's an excellent midpoint between color and stark black-and-white.

As a reminder, all of Halide's film simulations are available on all devices, not just the iPhone 18 Pro.
